An Adaptation of Kwagh-Hir Puppets to Create Kinetic Paintings
Details
This book is an effort to bring to the fore the Kwagh-hir puppetry as a source of adaptation for exploration in painting. The Kwagh-hir is a theatre event which provides secular entertainment, education, and socialization through the enactment of past and contemporary happenings by human performers. Kwagh-hir puppets portray in their aesthetic intentions abstracts from reality of situations, attitudes and social behaviours which are not only given in Tiv communities but represent something of the universal human conditions. Unfortunately, Kwagh-hir is gradually facing extinction. This book will create awareness and serve as a source of literature to interested researcher(s) on modern artistic developments especially in the field of painting. It recommends to artists the use of Kwagh-hir sculptures and other traditional sculptures among other things, adaptations and for realization of Kinetics in paintings.
