An Analysis of Non- Terminal Public Examinations(Grade7) in Zimbabwe

The release of public examination results in Zimbabwe attracts the attention of various education stakeholders. In the years 2011 and 2012, a substantial number of schools obtained below average pass rates.With the low pass rates, one is stimulated to try and find out how this happens. The analysis of the results treats Grade 7 candidates the same regardless of their unique circumstances.This book therefore,is an attempt to interrogate other factors that are usually not considered in the analysis. Critical factors often excluded are, the socio-economic backgrounds of the learners,resources,learner and teacher motivation, teacher qualification, school type and school population. With this in mind, education managers,teachers and scholars who wish to improve learner performance and influence policy decisions will find this book captivating.
