There is no doubt that corruption has inhibited the growth and development of the Nigerian nation. Fraud, embezzlement, bribery and other despicable acts are brazenly perpetrated and the country suffers on every front. This publication has considered the developments, forms, causes and effects of official corruption in the polity, the legal implications. Official corruption is no doubt a social evil, and a society that is ridden with corruption is bound to be an orderless and lawless society that cannot advance economically, this is because those who have the means to corrupt others would use those means to achieve their aims and those who benefit from corruption would defy the law, ethics and morality and the social consequence is injustice. A society that is bereft of justice is certainly a jungle society where people have no hopes and expectations. This is certainly a society that will destroy itself. Corruption generally is identified as one of the problems confronting developing nations.
