An assessment of church leaders' competence in counselling
Details
The book investigated the competencies of the church leader as a counselor. The major objective of the book was to examine whether church leaders have the requisite skills to offer effective counseling services and also find out whether by being considered to be nearer to God, the wisdom of God gives them the ability to counsel. The book examined whether church leaders allow their clients to think through their problems. In addition, the book examined whether church leaders often emphasize the role of spirituality during their counseling. It was found that counselors who took advantage of counseling programmes are more competent than those who did not. Those who were competent are more likely to be skillful than those who are not competent. The results also proved that female counselors are more likely to allow their clients to think through their problems than their male counterparts. It was also found that more of those who dealt with reality of issues were more competent than those who emphasized the role of spirituality.
