An Evaluation of the Political Status of Africa

Commonwealth African partnership in the 1990s was not uneventful as issues of importance such as democracy, human rights, ethnic uprising, refugee problem , the scourge of HIV/AIDS, and other pandemics were predominant in the period. The commonwealth rose to the challenge and assisted African states in addressing the issues. This book focus on the leadership role of Chief Emeka Anyaoku as secretary general at the commonwealth in the 1990s .Running through the history of the commonwealth and interventions at resolving members problems, it assessed the organizations achievements in this regard within the peculiarity of Anyaoku's tenure. It made recommendations on the future of African Commonwealth partnership. This book is useful to researchers in international organizations, and the academia.It will also be relevant for others with specific interest in the commonwealth organization and African political development.
