An Evaluation Study of the Green Governmental Schools in Palestine

Recent years have seen many attempts by the Ministry of Education to improve the school buildings through building schools that are almost conforming to the specifications and conditions of green schools. Therefore, this analytical and evaluation study is based on three fundamental aspects, with the first aspect addressing governmental schools and their evolution including their numbers, crowdedness and architectural development since 1994 -2014. And the second aspect focused on defining the specifications and conditions of green schools, through reviewing several criteria, including greening and sustainability of the school location, water use reduction, efficiency use of energy, materials and resources and learning environment. and third aspect, an analysis and evaluate was conducted for a sample of leading governmental green school buildings. Therefore, this study discusses the success of the attempts made by the Ministry to achieve the specifications and green school building standards based on the international standards and specifications, and to what degree we have adopted the green school building in our governmental schools and the future potentials that can be achieved.
