An Examination into Selling Craft
Details
When you think of Ireland, do you think of craft? Once upon a time Ireland had one of the fastest growing economies in the world, where every industry seemed to flourish. Unfortunately craft (and especially ceramics) was the exception to the rule. How, in a time of such prosperity and growth, did craft get left behind? What went wrong to a once flourishing industry? This book will attempt to examine the rise and fall of craft in Ireland, its cultural history and early beginnings, as well as its declining popularity among consumers. It will examine the root causes and effects of such a fall within a social, economic and cultural context. The analysis should shed some light into ways of improving and regenerating a failing industry. It will also look at ways to combat economic downturns to prevent the loss of the craft industry and its unique Irish heritage.
