The behavior of the traveling wave directional coupler along with the modified traveling wave directional filter that are implemented using microstrip directional couplers are fully demonstrated.. A novel 3.0dB 4-port branch line coupler with and without passive tuning elements and a novel 3.0dB 4-port hybrid ring with passive tuning elementsare proposed. The result of the software which has been written previously by other researcher without compensating passive tuning element has been compared with available commercial software known as (ADS) .The agreement was almost 100 %. Moreover, a seven port network has been constructed by using two Lange couplers and one power combiner/divider of three sections .And found that with the proper terminations, the proposed seven port network is converted into a broad-band Balan network. Finally, four interdigitated couplers have been connected tighter in such way in order to form 8-port microstrip network .The theoretical analysis for all works with its simulated results was also given .A good application of modified 8-port network with the proper termination to work as a multiplexer.
