An Integrated Management Model for Gold Mining in Northern Nigeria

Informal gold mining activities in Nigeria, especially in the North, have triggered environmental and socio-economic concerns due to poor management of the mining sector. Dr. Luqman Salati obtained his M.Eng. and Phd in Mining Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria and University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, Ghana respectively. He is a registered engineer and currently teaches in the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, Nigeria.
