Analysing urban sprawl using a spatial separation indicator

The aspects involved in the proper development of urban networks must be included in public policies and in the culture of the residents of each region. Access is one of them, and must be studied to minimise the unfavourable impacts of accelerated urbanisation. The restructuring of the urban network is linked to urban mobility in municipalities and major capitals. In this way, the growth of cities can be analysed using indicators that make it possible to identify the possible problems hindering their development. In view of this, the use of appropriate indicators makes it easier to understand problematic situations in the urban environment, which would not be directly realised by their managers without the appropriate instruments.
