Analysis of Antecedents to Privacy Concerns

The literature review deals with the causal sequence of antecedents to privacy concerns, evolving from the APCO macro model of Smith et al. (2011). Given the numerous existing research on information privacy concerns, it highlights important aspects on this topic. The results help to understand the diverse issues that organizations may face when establishing or maintaining a certain service. A selection of high quality literature for the review process assures significant relevance of the findings. The antecedents were finally structured in a categorization table with main- and sub-categories. The different categories provide a clear overview of the influencing variables, in order to bring value to existing research and to contribute as a theoretical foundation for further research. Consequently, they give information about the potential responsibilities of organizations and individuals regarding the influence on information privacy concerns.
