Analysis of the collection system and environmental management of tires

The increase of the automobile fleet in Bogotá and particularly in the locality of Los Martires, due to the economic growth of the country and the city, has become the main source of used tires, where the strategies for their management and disposal have not been the most adequate or environmentally friendly, since most of them are stored in clandestine deposits, home yards and public spaces. The following book seeks to provide information about the selective collection and environmental management of used tires, their composition, characteristics, current uses and, in addition, to present different alternatives that minimize the negative impacts caused by their inadequate management and final disposal. However, at the end of their useful life, used tires become a special waste that is difficult to dispose of and can generate serious problems not only for the environment, but also for public health. For this reason, the objective of this book is to present some of the ways and alternative uses that help minimize the impacts caused to the environment by the generation of used tires.
