Why is it important to apply RETIE and NTC 2050 in public and private entities? Research showed that electricity could also cause damage to living beings and property and even death to people or animals, and with the growth of its applications, the number of people exposed to electrical hazards also increased. Thus, since 1879, the first death caused by electricity generated by man has been known, when a carpenter lost his life in the city of Lion, France, and the death in 1882 of the first lineman, by electrocution on a pole in a street in Manhattan. Knowing the risks associated with electricity, parallel to the research and scientific developments on its applications, technical safety standards were also established to mitigate or eliminate such risks, becoming the sector with the greatest standardisation. The correct application of these standards means that electromagnetic applications can be considered safe and reliable.
