Anatomy of Energy Efficient Solutions for Public Use Buildings
Details
Our work attempts to provide an insight into the mechanism for determining the comfortability of the building environment and assessing sustainable and environmental awareness in extreme climates producing an easy to use compendium. This work has developed from a simple and single idea that current buildings in hot climates are inefficient and lack contextual grounding in the environment they are built. The zeal of development in "new" markets, producing "modern" architecture, for instance in Dubai and Abu Dhabi without consideration for its place in the arid desert climate, is scandalous in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency. In a simple way our thesis established, through research and the cerebral process, a series of principles and initiatives we believe to be the essence of sustainability. The result was a compendium or collection of initiatives which when developed formed a strategic framework matrix for developing energy efficient solutions and thereby a sustainable direction. We commend our master thesis to a more sustainable consciousness.
