Animals and Sociology challenges traditional assumptions about the nature of sociology. Sociology often centres on humans; however, other animals are everywhere in society. Kay Peggs explores the significant contribution that sociology can make to our understanding of human relations with other animals.

KAY PEGGS Principal Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Portsmouth, UK. Her current published work centres on animals in society. She has previously published on women and ageing, gender and health, and couple relationships. She is co-author with Richard Lampard of Identity and Repartnering after Separation which was published by Palgrave in 2007.
