Annie Fargue was a French-born actress, who garnered fame in 1961, when she was named "most promising new star in a situation comedy". when she costarred with Marshall Thompson, Doris Singleton, and Don Keefer in CBS's Angel. Born Annie Goldfarb in France in 1936, she left France shortly before the Nazi occupation of the country. She wanted to become an actress, but her mother was against it. Fargé's mother agreed to her daughter's choice after she was accepted at the Conservatoire Nationale. She came to New York and married dancer Dirk Sanders; the couple had a daughter, Leslie Tabuteau, who was born shortly before Angel began filming. Joshua Logan is said to have discovered her and started her with English lessons. At the time of the casting for the television series, Fargé was an understudy for the Broadway production of The World of Suzie Wong
