Annotated Legal Documents on Peace Building in Africa

Peace building in Africa: what a great challenge for the current and future generations. Governments' officials, communities and individuals are daily confronted to the burden of building peace within their countries, regions or local territories. Facts have shown that positive peace is one of the fundamental resources for our development since domestic strifes remain the main issue (and source of expenses) of continental politics. As Paul BIYA, President of the Republic of Cameroon once said: we have become mendicants of peace. Going from the UNO Charter (1948), the Protocol relating to the protection of the victims of non-international conflicts (1977) or the Statute of the ICC (2002) to the Constitutive Act of the AU (2000) or the Protocol relating to the establishment of the Peace and Security Council (2002), the present anthology covers more than half a century of developments on global security. Well annotated, it is a guideline which aims at providing peace workers, researchers (and students), governments (including military staffs) and local communities' organs with the conventional instruments imperative to the conduct of their activities as related to conflict resolution.
