This book is a study on Antipsychotic drug prescribing patterns, adverse drug reaction monitoring and Quality of life assessment in the outpatients of a tertiary care hospital in the National capital of India (Delhi). Mental health disorders are on the rise in the country in both urban and rural areas over the last few decades. From typical to atypical antipsychotics, the treatment of mental health disorders has undergone a significant transition. This study examines the status of such a transition in an Indian clinical setting. The prescribing patterns in the outpatients were assessed using the WHO prescribing indicators. Meticulous monitoring of adverse drug reactions, cost incurred on the prescribed antipsychotics along with the Quality of life assessment was carried out to generate valuable data. The book also discusses the impact of such studies and the need for promotion of rational use of antipsychotics.
