Anxiety: Management of Chronic Ailments

Anxiety is a common emotional reaction experienced by patients as they await feedback on their medical and or psychological tests from their medical practitioners. This book therefore seeks to help medical practitioners appreciate the significance of the emotional state of their patients/ clients and the impact emotional intelligence, anxiety management and medication adherence would have on treatment outcomes and disease progression among patients with chronic ailments. It also identifies other factors that promote treatment non-adherence, especially in patients on long-term medication. The book seeks to promote effective and efficient communication in disclosing the diagnosis especially on terminal and chronic ailments thus ensuring acceptance of the diagnosis and commitment to medication therapy.

Osoo Victor Okello is a professional counseling psychologist with vast experience in medication adherence. He is also a consultant in pharmacy practice in Kenya. He holds a Diploma in Pharmacy, Bachelors in psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. He is currently working in The National Police Service Commission, Kenya.
