Application of Discourse Theories to Textbook Conceptual Metaphors

Metaphor is used in everyday life and is considered as a device of thought. Thus, the inquiry into metaphorical expressions can reflect particular types of reality on the speakers, and their application can formulate specific perceptions for the audience. This book Illuminates the nature and role of the conceptual metaphor mapping process in creating or transforming a particular conception of reality, provides EFL teachers and learners with an awareness of the effects of hidden metaphors interwoven into textbook contents, signals various linguistic and non-linguistic elements, and opens new windows to EFL teachers to be aware of the contents that ought to be taught.
