INDIA is primarily an agriculture driven country where agriculture mainly focuses on food grains, non food grains, plantation crops, and fibers. 'Vegetation' is a prominent life support factor in the human life cycle. Since its inception, remote sensing plays a major role in monitoring the earth surface. The thematic information with signature is used to differentiate between water bodies, vegetation and man-made structures or to investigate a particular phenomenon. This book concentrates mainly on the vegetation analysis using satellite image processing and also studies the leaf images for analyzing the plant growth. Plant growth monitoring is an essential requirement in the vegetation study. As a special case, image analysis of tea leaf and bud is done for predicting the optimal plucking time of the tea bud.

He completed his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering. His research work incorporates the application of image processing techniques and embedded systems for betterment of agriculture.
