Application of Public Transport Accessibility Level in Vijayawada

Public Transport Accessibility Level (PTAL) is one of the many tools used to calculate the local level accessibility to Public Transport in an urban area. The PTAL was formed by London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and was later adopted by Transport for London (TfL). The aim of the thesis is to assess the access level in Vijayawada, India using Public Transport Accessibility Level (PTAL) and to find the areas suitable for development priorities in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. Here, PTAL method is used to determine the accessibility level of the all possible origins in Vijayawada. The parameters taken for PTAL are the walking time from an origin to the nearest transit stop and the waiting time to enter into a service (bus) during the peak time.
