The source of energy is the backbone of the modern civilization and national economy. In our country the demand for electricity is increasing, resulting in perpetual energy crises. On the other hand fourfold increase in the oil prices has resulted an increase in the cost of the electricity. Now it is the time to look for the cheapest energy sources and technologies for producing electricity. Keeping in view the above facts, the attempt is made to discuss the significance of the gas turbine for analyzing of its feasibility as an energy conversion device that can utilize conventional as well as non-conventional fuels. In this piece of work the classification, various techniques for improvement of efficiency, applications, environmental impact and future development of the gas turbine are given in detail.
Autorentext
Presently working as an Associate Professor in IEEM, MUET Pakistan. He is Faculty Top in Mechanical Engineering from QUEST. He did his M.E. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering through UNEP and MUET Scholarships. This is his second book. He has more than 40 research publications. He has also worked as the Assistant Mechanical Engineer in WAPDA.
