Approximation methods, 2nd edition

This book is a 2nd edition containing a new chapter. It presents the theory of numerical iterative methods to solve systems of linear equations. It also contains the proofs of iterative methods to solve the equation f(x)=0 and the proofs of polynomial interpolation method. Finally, it presents some proofs of approximation methods to calculate a defined integral. It is not required for the reader to have a previous knowledge on numerical methods.

Luís Vieira and Rui Gonçalves are assistant professors at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto(UP). Luís Vieira and Rui Gonçalves have respectively 40 and 25 years of experience lecturing in calculus and algebra. Luís Vieira is a researcher at Center of mathematics of UP. Rui Gonçalves is a researcher at INESC TEC.
