Arabic Humanities

This book contains a collection of articles on the humanities in Arabia that have been published in various journals. Starting from the literary aspect, both classical and modern literature, such as historical novels, anecdotes, poetry, women writers and semiotic structuralism; linguistic aspects, such as translation problems, discourse analysis, rhetoric, lexicography, and loanwords; and cultural aspects, such as issues of sex, humor, contract marriages and mass media.

Maman Lesmana is a professor in the Department of Area Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia. In accordance with his department, he has written extensively on area studies, particularly in the Middle East. Among his published books are Arabic oral expressions and understanding Arabic through its culture.
