Art and Experience

"Art and Experience: mediation as educational action" presents the mediation process developed at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paraná, in Curitiba, with the aim of collaborating in the learning of visual arts in a non-formal educational space: the contemporary art museum. Based on the researcher's experience as a cultural mediator at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paraná (MAC/PR), she observed the importance of the fundamental role of mediation in the visitor's learning process through interaction with the work of art and the mediator, also realising the need to present the strategies developed to the academic public, in order to emphasise the importance of mediation and the mediator's work in cultural spaces, such as the art museum.

Izabella C. de Lima Fialho has a degree in Visual Arts from Unespar in Curitiba. She has experience in both formal and informal visual arts teaching. An art teacher, she is currently researching the relationship between informal art teaching and cultural spaces such as museums.
