Articulators in Prosthodontics

Articulator is a mechanical tool for limiting jaw movements. Basically, an articulator is used for diagnosis and treatment planning as well as an aid in the manufacturing of dentures, splints or orthodontic devices. Articulators in Prosthodontics are mainly used by dental technicians in fabrication of prosthesis and information regarding bite can be communicated from the prescribing dentist via a face bow alone. However it is advantageous when a system is utilized jointly in which case the clinician should adopt the articulator system currently in use in the dental laboratory as they are not compatible with each other.
