Artificial Hand-made Flowers

"Art can't deny craft, but refuses to acknowledge it. In the end they are still brothers." These beautiful words were said by Christian Barr who is a designer/maker primarily working in the genre of wood-fire ceramics. Art and Craft do go hand in hand and the beauty it brings when these two elements are combined is irreplaceable. I have always admired hand-made crafts,especially when it comes to flower making. Artificial hand-made flower makers are not found in abundance all around the world as machines have taken over and life has become too fast paced. Thus,in my research, I have interviewed and spoken to people from various walks of life who are deeply linked to this precious craft. This book aims to create awareness about the exquisite art of artificial hand-made flower making and its value. I have always believed that nothing can replace the beauty and simplicity of a hand-made craft. Machines might have taken over and the world might have progressed,but the charm and value a hand-made craft holds is incomparable and nothing can take its place.

Elia Ispahani has obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in the field of Textile Design from the 'Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture' from Karachi,Pakistan in December 2009. She is currently working at a well reputed Textile Company known as 'Khaadi' which has become synonymous with hand-woven fabrics and other products across Pakistan.
