Asafo Flags With a Difference

Asafo Flags with a Difference provides in-depth knowledge in traditional Effutu Asafo flag art culture and new methods of making Effutu Asafo flags. The philosophy of the Effutu Asafo flag artists is presented with selected images of historical traditional flags from the Effutu Asafo militias plus selected transitional flags from the Author, which shows the full sense of their work. Though the Effutu Asafo militias were not formally schooled in aesthetics, from these pages arises absolutely brilliant, how they understood and synthesized visual forms and aesthetics embedded in their traditional culture to capture and move their audience into action.

Patrick Tagoe-Turkson was born in Winneba but currently lives alternately in Kumasi and Takoradi. He has a BFA in Painting from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. Is a lecturer at School of Applied Arts, Takoradi Polytechnic of Ghana.
