The last two decades have seen a dramatic rise in the number of children being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, especially high functioning autism and Asperger syndrome. It has become increasingly common for students with Asperger's to be educated with their typical peers in the general education environment. Unfortunately, many general education teachers lack awareness and training on the nuances of the disorder and its educational impact. Angela Monteilh Weedn, Psy.D: Studied communications at University of Southern California as an undergrad. Received an M.A. in general education from Loyola Marymount University and both a master's a doctorate in educational psychology from Alliant International University. Presently, is a school psychologist in Irvine Unified School District.
