Assessment of Climate Smart Farming System in FCT Abuja
Details
The experiment was carried out in Gwagwalada (GWA), Kwali (KWA) and Abuja Municipal Area Councils (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. The study will focus on the extent of practice of Climate Smart Cropping System in the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. The study was done on a sample of 150 Farmers. The evidence was that too many of the CSCS practices were not familiar to the majority of the respondents (82) and thus, practices of Climate Smart are at a very low level of adoption in such areas. The GWA area council was the highest CSC awareness of 34% followed by AMAC area council of 8% CSC awareness and 12% CSC awareness in kwali. Recommendations on these findings are to intensify the efforts like sensitization exercises, training and support programs on CSA as a way of making farmers embrace climate smart agricultural practices as one. A Sustainable agriculture will dictate a broader change in society to value the equilibrium between agriculture and environmental change.
