Assessment of environmental functions of roadside development

Water,soil and flora must be preserved and integrated within a road network to sustain ecological balance of an environment and service demand of a road. The Addis-Adama expressway demands much emphasis to context sensitive and critical environmental features such as soil erosion and dying wetlands within its right-of -way. The corridor's environmental functions are affected by the biophysical and spatial nature of its surrounding landscape which may imposes a threat to its service demand.
