Assessment of Maternal Mortality in Edo State, Nigeria

Assessment of Safe motherhood programme in Edo state Nigeria is a study carried out to assess the Safe Motherhood Programme in Edo State. Identify factors that would be used as tools for strengthening the Safe Motherhood Programme with a view to achieving the Safe Motherhood Programme goal of reducing maternal mortality. Related literature reviewed on the topic revealed that Safe Motherhood is the ability of a woman to have a safe, healthy pregnancy and childbirth. The literature revealed that Safe Motherhood Programme study has not been fully investigated in Nigeria of which Edo State is a microcosm. It also revealed that the actual health care programme and services to reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria are not commensurate with the many policies introduced since 1998.
