Atherosclerosis and extracts of Acacia senegal and Prosopis cineraria

Nature always stands as a golden mark to exemplify the outstanding phenomena of symbiosis. Today estimate that about 80% of people in developing countries still depend on traditional medicine based largely on plants species and animals for their primary health care. In India there is a vast repository of medicinal plants that are used in traditional medicinal system (Chopra et al., 1952). Herbal formulation may be strong source for alternative medicine system because these medicines are already available. There is only need to establish it scientifically.Our present study was oriented towards alternative medicine and utilization of traditional medicinal system for cardiovascular disease especially in atherosclerosis through herbal formulations from the Thar Desert region of Indian subcontinent.
