Autorentext

Dr. Heimann graduated in the top 10% of his class at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He came to Mount Sinai as a surgical intern and after completing his surgical residency rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Surgery. He is a member of numerous surgical and gastroenterological associations and has been recognized as best surgeon in gastrointestinal surgery both in New York and nationally. He has over 100 scientific publications, has authored 2 books and several chapters in Surgical Textbooks. He also has numerous presentations at national and international scientific societies. He is an Attending Surgeon at The Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Chief of Surgery at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, a major affiliate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Although Dr. Heimann is on the Colorectal Surgery service and is an expert in the surgical treatment of patients with inflammatory Bowel Disease, he is also the New York State Chair for the Commission on Cancer and performs major cancer operations both at Mount Sinai and at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. Dr Heimann also has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of large abdominal wall hernias requiring extensive reconstruction. He was born in Hungary and grew up in South America. He speaks fluent Spanish and Hungarian.
