BlurbThe Prevalence and impact of tinnitus is very severe and studies available in management of tinnitus are very limited. Also very few studies have been reported on audiological and psychological characteristics of a group of tinnitus sufferers in western countries. However as far as India is concerned very limited data base is available in the area. Though the problem of tinnitus in India is also as alarming / as severe as in western countries; but there is dearth of studies in India related to tinnitus and its associated impact on the individuals. In view of this, the strong need is felt to undertake the present study. This study will help the patients with tinnitus, their family members, clinicians, students and researchers who are dedicated to helping the tinnitus patients to understand the cause and impact of tinnitus in a better manner which in turn will help them to treat the tinnitus or at least to reduce its impact in a more satisfactory manner. This will also guide the professionals to prepare an appropriate / a suitable module for tinnitus sufferers.

Mr. Makar is an Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist. His professional training includes bachelor and master degree from University of Mumbai, he is dedicated his work to the National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped of Audiology,student teaching and clinical research in tinnitus and hearing loss
