Automatic Extraction of Building and Road Features

This book describes the methodology of automatic extraction of building and road features of Dehradun city using high resolution satellite imagery. Automatic building extraction is being extensively used for urban planning and management. The automatic extraction of man-made objects such as buildings and roads from imagery taken in urban areas has become a topic of growing interest for photogrammetry and remote sensing. In this book multi-resolution segmentation approach is used for dividing satellite images into homogenous objects at different levels by criteria such as scale, parameter, colour, shape, compactness and fuzzy membership logic for soft image classification. The book will help reader to better understand the remote sensing techniques for urban studies.
