Automating the Generation and Typesetting of Arabic Script
Details
The research presented in this book is directed towards automating the generation and typesetting of Arabic scripts. The main challenge of producing high-quality Arabic scripts is that Arabic calligraphy is an art. The rules to follow when composing Arabic scripts have great flexibility in choosing different variations of letter forms and constructing complex ligatures. These variations and ligatures add an aesthetic touch to the script and also used to justify the text as needed. In order to automate the generation of rich and beautiful Arabic scripts, the research addressed the required steps to do so, starting from using a very rich Arabic font like AlQalam font and developing a generic context analysis algorithm for it, to suggesting some approaches for developing a generic line-breaking algorithm for rich Arabic fonts.
