Autonomy and the Management of Universities

This book assesses University Autonomy and Management of universities in Nigeria. It also evaluates the persistent erosion of the university autonomy over time and how it has negatively impacted on management of government owned universities in Nigeria in the 21st century. The book has emphasized the need for government to grant greater autonomy to universities. Given the need to seek lasting solutions to university crises in Nigeria, the study has explained the ways of which universities should be granted the necessary legitimate autonomy that will give them proper and adequate academic freedom capable of sustaining industrial harmony, progress and effective management of the system. The book is important because apart from stimulating sanity in the management of the system, it has also observed that not so much has been published on the subject matter in Nigeria. Therefore, it has generated information on university autonomy and its imperative for effective university management.

Dr. Timothy Utile ist derzeit Dozent an der Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, und Mitglied des präsidialen Besuchsgremiums der Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (Nigeria). Er diente der BSU in verschiedenen Funktionen und war von 2009 bis 2017 Kanzler. Er hat mehrere Veröffentlichungen. Er ist verheiratet und hat 4 reizende Kinder.
