Avoidable blindness: causes,magnitude of causes and management

Elimination of Avoidable blindness is an important strategy of Vision 2020.Estimation of magnitude and assessment of management of various causes of avoidable blindness is essential.A cross sectional study was conducted in a medical college hospital in rural area.83.6% people were suffering from avoidable causes of blindness..Ca tract was the most common cause followed by refractive error. Studies to estimate the baseline data regarding avoidable blindness should be conducted on wide scale to make vision 2020 successful.
