Balanced Fertilization for Maize

Any nutrient management study aimed at defining newer technologies for maximizing productivity on sustainable basis maintaining soil fertility and protecting the environment. Balanced use of plant nutrients corrects nutrient deficiency, improves soil fertility, enhances crop yields and farmers income, betters crop and environmental quality. Soil testing is one of the most important tools to practice balanced fertilization. Balanced fertilizer rates differ from area to area and also from crop to crop. This book focuses on balanced fertilization for maize through a new technique called a systematic approach to soil fertility evaluation and improvement . It covers the three phase research methodologies viz., nutrient sorption study, green house experiment and field trials to optimize the fertilizer quantity for maize productivity in different soils. The future sustainability of the crop production will greatly depend on the improvement in soil resource base through the balance fertilization.
