Barriers to Management Opportunities in Nepal: A Gender Perspective
Details
The involvements of women in various managerial roles have centre-staged and capacitated women as managers and equipped with decision making abilities, however continued stigmas and stereotyping of women have resulted to limited involvement of women. Despite of mainstreaming of women's agenda and having received opportunities of equalities, still fewer numbers of women are found to be in senior managerial positions. The stereotypes about women abilities, interests and behavior have leaded them to behave in ways that limit their effectiveness at the workplace. This research was conducted over the span of two months within Kathmandu valley. The research used both quantitative and qualitative methods to appraise women's roles, perceptions and practices at the workplace. The quantitative study focused more on work attributes while the qualitative methods explored on the perception and belief of working women.
