This is a new edition of the Basic Grammar. Before you begin to work through the lessons in this book, think for a moment about language. How can a knowledge of language help you? The answer is that language is not merely examination subject, but an essential tool. You will use it all your life, to express yourself and communicate with other people. If you want to use it well - that is, clearly, accurately and without being misunderstood- you first have to know how language is made up. You should understand its different parts. One part is the words themselves or vocabulary - the smallest units of language. The other main part is the grammar - the rules which show you how the words fit correctly together in a sentence. In addition, you must be proficient in spelling and punctuation, because language is not only spoken but also read and written.This book explains these aspects of molecule of the English Basic Grammar to test you by exercises and revision sections on what you have learned.
