Basic Immunology for dental students

Basic immunology contributes in a major way to dental and mucosal health and diseases. The book includes the basics of immunological mechanisms, humoral and cell mediated, that help understand the studied innate and adaptive factors maintaining the integrity of oral tissues. Moreover, it clarifies the role of innate factors in destroying microorganisms penetrating the surface defense. It also includes the importance of the immune system in evaluating infections, diagnosis and targeted immunotherapy. A detailed description of the different mechanisms accomplished by immune cells to defend the host against harmful stimuli is comprised to understand the microbiological response and tissue reactivity.
