The USA is understood as a country of unlimited possibilities of the "New World" and freedom and equality. For the visitor of the eighties, it is the impressions of grandiose nature, lonely motels, endless highways, noncommittal invitations and the contrasts in society, a dynamic of the country, rapid demographic development, rural interior and urban centers. The consequences of globalization do not stop at the USA. So far, U.S. society, with all its contrasts and its culture clashes, has shown itself to be robust and distinguished itself by its optimism. The country sees itself as a counter-model to old Europe.
