(be) like across space and time

(Be) like has attracted increasing attention over the last few decades. This book investigates the origins of the word, the variety of its uses, and its more recent functions as a quotative complementizer and as a discourse marker. By looking at its development not only across time, but also around the world, it is shown what kind of changes the word went through and what the current state of (be) like is.
