Bio cement- A new approach for healing cracks in concrete structures

Appearance of cracks and deformations is a serious problem associated with concrete structures. Bio cementation is a cost-effective, environment friendly method for improving durability and tensile characteristics of these structures. This method involves calcite precipitation by ureolytic bacteria which is responsible for crack healing.There is committed research undertaken by researchers in this area for finding novel ureolytic microorganisms.
