Bioceramics are biocompatible ceramic materials or metal oxides with enhanced sealing ability, antibacterial and antifungal activity applied for use in medicine and dentistry. They include alumina and zirconia, bioactive glass, glass ceramics, calcium silicates, hydroxyapatite and resorbable calcium phosphates and radiotherapy glasses. The use of bioceramics in endodontics is widespread e.g., in vital pulp therapy, obturation, perforation repair, retrograde filling, pulpotomy, resorption, apexification and regenerative endodontics and has huge potential of further growth in clinical application and biomaterial. Bioceramics have similarity to hydroxyapatite, an intrinsic Osteoconductive activity and have an ability to induce regenerative responses in the human body.
