Biogeochemistry of Some Parts of Nellore Mica Belt, Andhra Pradesh

Biogeochemistry is the scientific discipline that involves the study of the chemical, physical, geological, and biological processes and reactions that govern the composition of the natural environment (including the biosphere, the cryosphere, the hydrosphere, the pedosphere, the atmosphere, and the lithosphere). The Nellore mica belt in Andhra Pradesh is one of the three important producers of mica in India. In this book I have discussed about the termite mounds and plants occurring in the vicinity of mining area and its application in biogeochemical prospecting. Biogeochemical survey provides geochemical information on the substrate not provided by other surficial materials. The composition of vegetation reflects the availability of an element in the vicinity of root system and the ability of plant absorb, transport and accumulate of the element. The termite mounds are abundant components of Nellore mica belt and systematic research has been carried out on the application of termite mound sampling t mineral exploration in this region.
