Biomimetics And Architecture

Nature with its 3.8 billion years of evolution has come up with the best solutions with maximal performances using minimal resources. As a result, inspiration from nature as God's architecture has always been a valuable desire for mankind. BIOMIMETICS as a new field of study involved with mimicking ideas from natural forms, structures, materials and biological mechanisms, functions and processes has been influential towards achieving optimized methods, materials, processes, structures, tools, mechanisms and systems in various fields. In this book, various aspects of employing biomimetics in philosophy, technology and more specifically in architecture are reviewed, whereas the main emphasis is on applying SWARM INTELLIGENCE, EMERGENT BEHAVIOUR and SELF-ORGANIZATION as natural processes to architecture.

Yasaman Aryanpour Kashani was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1984. She receivedher Math Diploma from Daneshjoo High School (Tehran, Iran) in 2002, her Bachelor of Architecture from Eastern Mediterranean University (Cyprus) in 2006 and her Master of Interior Design from University of Brighton (Brighton, England) in 2008. Since then, she has been working in her own architectural company in Iran.
